Below is a list of the schemes that form the WILDCOMS network. For each scheme a brief description, website link, contact name, telephone number and e-mail address is given.

If you run a scheme that you think should be included as a collaborative partner please contact Lee Walker on 01524 595830 or e-mail him at leew@ceh.ac.uk

Network Partners:

Predatory Bird Monitoring Scheme (PBMS)

A national surveillance scheme quantifying contaminants in sentinel predatory bird species. The PBMS is run by CEH and co-funded by CEH, Natural England (NE), Environment Agency (EA) and the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) — run by an industrial consortium of rodenticide suppliers.

The Wildlife Incident Investigation Scheme (WIIS)

Investigates wildlife deaths in England and Wales where there is evidence that pesticide poisoning may be involved. WIIS monitors the effects of pesticide use after approval, so that approvals can be revised if necessary, and provides a measure of the success of the pesticide registration process. WIIS is funded via the Pesticides Safety Directorate. The Central Science Laboratory (CSL) conducts the toxicology investigations for WIIS and interprets the significance of residues detected.

Clean Seas Environment Monitoring Programme

Investigates contaminant concentrations and the incidence of fish diseases in vertebrate fish at offshore and inshore sites to assess the health status at both the organism and population level. Within England and Wales, it is coordinated by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (CEFAS) and is funded by Defra.
