Review of lead in European raptors published

A review of lead contamination in raptors in Europe, co-authored by Richard Shore, has recently been published.

This paper reviewed 114 studies on lead contamination in European raptors and found that lead concentrations varied across feeding traits and between sampling seasons. Evidence for high occurrence of lead contamination was found, especially in scavengers. However, the authors also found a lack of homogenization in the monitoring schemes around Europe and urged further studies relating lead exposure to quantitative impacts on European raptors.
